About the publication
“Two years ago, I was offered the opportunity to lead the project for the success of Aboriginal students at Barthélemy-Joliette High School. I was a little nervous as I prepared to meet them for the first time. I had informed myself and done research on Atikamekw culture. I asked myself about my place and my usefulness to them. I quickly suggested projects to them, and they participated enthusiastically. […] Then I told them about this poetry collection project. Because I love poetry, I read it and I write it. We then had the idea of establishing an exchange between Atikamekw authors and a collective of poets from the region, the Moyens fakirs de Joliette, led by the literature teacher at Cégep régional de Lanaudière in Joliette, Dominic Corneillier. Each student was paired with an author and sent them a poem to which they responded, creating a unique and touching correspondence.”
